The Parachute Regiment

The Parachute Regiment, commonly known as the Paras, was formed during the Second World War as Britain developed its airborne forces.

Paratroopers subsequently took part in major operations including the Normandy campaign and Operation Market Garden, including the fighting at Arnhem. The Regiment later served in numerous operations around the world.

Its famous motto, Utrinque Paratus, is commonly translated as “Ready for Anything.”
